Harbor Area Central Office

Long Beach, California

Harbor Area Central Office

The Harbor Area Central Office is the public service office located in Area 9, Districts 2 & 4. The paid staff address service requests from groups, individual members and the interested public. They maintains a current stock of A.A. literature for sale to groups and individuals, receive contributions, and assists with maintaining a directory of active meetings.

In accord with the Twelve Traditions, inquiries received by telephone or in person from members of A.A., alcoholics who are still suffering, family members and/or concerned friends who are suffering, are handled by Central Office volunteers. These volunteers work during the normal office hours from 9:00 am -5:00 pm Monday through Friday. When the office is closed incoming calls are forwarded directly to local volunteers’ telephones, thus providing 24 hour a day coverage. The volunteers answer questions about alcoholism, recovery, meeting times and locations, and the program of Alcoholics Anonymous. In some cases, it may become necessary for the volunteers to arrange for a sober alcoholic to visit a problem drinker who requests help.

We are here to help spread the message of AA. If you have questions, please contact us.

Trust God

Steps 1 thru 3
If I admit to the God of my understanding that I am powerless over alcohol and then surrender any difficulties I have, then I no longer come from a place of fear, but of trust.

Clean House

Steps 4 thru 10
To the best of my ability, I strive to be rigorously honest with others and myself.

Help Others

Steps 11 and 12
A beautiful way of making peace with the world around me and inspiring others. It’s paying it forward.
